Us, Aggregated (Web Project)

Project by Mimi Onuoha.

"Us, Aggregated" is a collection of photos from my family's personal collection set alongside images programmatically categorized as similar by Google's image algorithms. In addition to highlighting the smart/dumbness of the algorithm, the piece engages with the tension between individuals and the collective, highlighting the performative poetry of living in a world where, though millions of photos are taken, shared, and uploaded each day, we still see something unique in our own.
